Short article about Magalie and this great shooting session. It was her first time and it’s always an interesting exercise for me as a photographer to learn a little more to deal with stress and manage the model carefuly.

The meeting took place in his new apartment still empty, the conditions were perfect for me: a clear background (white black pink whatever) and above, some space to shoot with my 50mm. Why experiment? I had indeed acquired a few days before my second flash SB-800, a second light source which therefore allows even more opportunity. The walls were white, I wanted to experiment with something else in terms of background. But how to have a colored background when you have no support or even any budget for this kind of thing? The solution: gelatin color!

Using colored gelatins in patterns of light brings a lot of creative opportunities. The gelatin is then set on my second flash that is placed behind the model toward the white wall.
It was just a good first test but I could not run the entire meeting due to lack of practice time, but in any case one thing is on, it looks like a very efficient system that I’m gonna use in my next projects.

Magalie was very professional and played the game until the end, it was a real great!
