Short article about Magalie and this great shooting session. It was her first time and it’s always an interesting exercise for me as a photographer to learn a little more to deal with stress and manage the model carefuly.

The meeting took place in his new apartment still empty, the conditions were perfect for me: a clear background (white black pink whatever) and above, some space to shoot with my 50mm. Why experiment? I had indeed acquired a few days before my second flash SB-800, a second light source which therefore allows even more opportunity. The walls were white, I wanted to experiment with something else in terms of background. But how to have a colored background when you have no support or even any budget for this kind of thing? The solution: gelatin color!

Using colored gelatins in patterns of light brings a lot of creative opportunities. The gelatin is then set on my second flash that is placed behind the model toward the white wall.
It was just a good first test but I could not run the entire meeting due to lack of practice time, but in any case one thing is on, it looks like a very efficient system that I’m gonna use in my next projects.

Magalie was very professional and played the game until the end, it was a real great!

It took a lot of time to find the “words” and write an article about this very special photo shooting session !
First of all, it was my very first time, my very Nude photography session, a big challenge for me: always been fascinated and inspired by the feminine curves…
I wanted to experience a very specific light, and especially take the temperature and see if I could manage models in this kind of situation. So I had this luck to have two beautifull girl, the blond girl, Thaïs and her friend Natacha, the beautiful “unknown”. These ladies have a common characteristic, wich is a very pronounced taste for art (art education inside), and this detail has taken all its importance during the shooting…

In general, the relationship between a photographer and his model is an aspect often neglected in a photo session. For me, however, the mood of the picture depends largely on the quality of this relationship definitely! It was really important for me that we take our time, installing a reelax atmosphere and that’s exactly what happened, ! This relaxed atmosphere triggered an avalanche of inspiration, ideas, experimention, exaclty what i wanted. Natacha and Thais played very well and for a first time, that was very very good. They were moving, improvising, mixing softly. A strange mixture of improvisation and direction which allowed me to unleash pure attitudes in motion.
What about the ligt ? so I wanted to test the HIGH KEY technic. It is a particular photographic style, that sounds very pure light. Above all play with the highlights without burning the texture and the natural texture of the skin. So I installed a white sheet as a background. I had a first cobra flash placed on the ground towards the white csheet, to get a pure white background with a rear light caress ing the skin of the model. My second flash was placed on a light box, to the left of the models. It is a very effective and simple lighting ultra affordable!

This “simple” photo shoot just turned and transformed into a real studio experimentation and artistic exchange between two opposing schools, Advertising vision (me) and Art (them).

Bus Palladium

Just some few words about the Bus Palladium, a very famous place i didn’t know (just the name). Veryery hippie in the 60s, the Bus Pallaidum became one of the famous and hype place to be in Paris. The sound is good with some special night Beatles or Bowie, you just enjoy to be in Rock & Roll Club :) Myriam is a friend i wanted to help for her first private sale about her brand jewelry trend, a good opportunity for me to meet people in the heart of Paris and enjoy this famous place a little bit ! Here are some pictures of the event + exhibition jewel’s brand by Myriam. You can now find her every Tuesday of the month of May, same time same place! The photos works very well for me, I’ll probably be there next Tuesday, this time as a real photographer :)

Just Married !

I was still in Australia when Celine & Tristan contacted me for their wedding. I accepted without much thought because it allowed me to make a quick return to France for friends and family, but more specially because I wanted to do this wedding, it was just a great challenge for me, to be the offical photographer ! I had so much ideas,Celine had given me a “free way” and allowed me to go into the art direction that I wanted … That was great! She trusted me from the beginning to the end of the day without wories , it was going to give it to me even more motivated to do something original and “cool”, as far as possible photos Kitsch and frozen can be seen everywhere in France. I was very (too much ?) required with myself, and having prepared this wedding for months, so the D-Day I just had fun working without worrying about the technique I mastered more or less: the pictures speak Moreover for themselves, unabashed! I did not hesitate to discuss with all guests, almost like a guest, while remaining professional and obviously all worked very well since everyone without exception has taken left in the game . After 17 hours of work and over more 900 photos, I decided to install a quick studio to have really funny pictures! What a Succes ! The weather that day was particularly good: sunny all day.

What about my material for those who are interested, I shot with a Nikon D300s – an ultra wide angle 12-24 and a 50mm 1.4 for portraits. It did not bother to switch completely to the contrary, each time, I’m for thinking about my frames and shoot “quality” and not “quantity”. Some people advised me to take a lense like 24-70 or 70-200, and instead I found it perfect. I’m not a big fan of telephoto lenses because it means I must be away from people in my corner and strafe. This would clearly not given the same photos, I am convinced now.

It was an extraordinary day for me and I loved to tell a story in picture.
